Orlu Senate: UIPU Endorses Chief Charles Ahize Of Labour Party, As PDP Chieftain- Chief Obinna Duruaku Calls On Nwangele Leaders To Throw Support To The Right Man For The Job

As the February 25, 2023, general election draws even closer; the grassroots appeal, mass movement to Labour Party and earthquaking – organic supports enjoyed by her presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi , and candidate for Imo West Senatorial District, High Chief Charles Ahize, is better witnessed than only read on the storylines of this reporter, Njoku Macdonald Obinna.

The sweeping wave of political tsunami that has eventually hit the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) , Chief Osita Izunaso, is a case study of a man who sees himself a demigod; Jagaban in Orlu political chessboard, but is now being humbled by God with the emergence of Chief Charles Ahize of Labour Party, whom they so dengerated and underrated as a political neophyte. Quite funny!
They all got it wrong without taking into cognizance that God directs the affairs of man; as His ways and thoughts are different from mere mortals.

Judging by the times and season in our political turf, especially, aftermath of the Supreme Court judgement which nulified the primary election that produced the People’s Democratic Party’s candidate for Imo West Senatorial District, Rt. Hon. Jones Onyereri, for the February 25 , 2023 general elections; there has been a twist of growing surge and upsurge of solidarity to Labour Party and gale of endorsements of her candidate for Orlu Senatorial zone, Chief Charles Ugochukwu Ahize-Chukwu (Ugochinyere Mba of Ihioma).

Interestingly, different support groups and political leaders across party lines have not only given their endorsements to Chief Charles Ahize of Labour Party; the rave of the moment , who has been tipped by majority of unbiased opinion polls as the possible winner in the forthcoming general elections, but have also gone out of their ways to galvanize supports for him as nobody wants to be left behind in the success story of Orlu incoming Senator.

However, apart from Orlu Elders’ Council who gave out their blessings, another respected non- partisan group that has joined the gale of endorsements of the beautiful bride of Imo West Senatorial District, Chief Charles Ahize, is the Federated United Isu Progressives Union (UIPU) in Nwangele LGA; under the dynamic leaderhip of Chief Engr. Celestine Opurum (Ekwueme of Dim -na- Nume Isu).

On Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the serene and peaceful ambience of UIPU’s ultra- modern country club in Isu, Nwangele LGA, Imo State, the leadership of United Isu Progressives Union (UIPU); after a closed door meeting that lasted for more than three hours, resolved to take a stand on whom to support for the Orlu Senatorial political contest scheduled for February 25, 2023.

The adoption of Chief Charles Ahize of Labour Party as a consensus candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District’s election by the elitist group, UIPU, may not have come to close observers of the Union’s activities as a surprise since their preferred candidate and a fellow of the Union, Rt. Hon. Jones Onyereri, is no longer in the race. The group of professionals and successful businessmen know what is best for the common interest of Orlu people and not the much touted ‘ranking’ that is centered on the individual than the collective interest of Orlu zone.

Governor of United Isu Progressives Union, His Excellency, Chief Engr. Celestine Opurum; a calm, calculated, highly organized businessman and astute administrator, is not one who is given to noise or political jamboree, had earlier requested for the blue- print or political manifesto of Chief Charles Ahize’s agenda for Orlu people before converging such political parley where the frontline senatorial candidate came to address members of the Union nay Nwangele people.

The Labour Party’s frontline candidate for Imo West Senatorial District, Chief Charles Ahize , who spoke briefly to his audience promised not to let them down if elected by the grace of God. Bemoaning the high rate of insecurity in Orlu zone, the senatorial hopeful vowed to address the issue by adopting inclusive leadership approach and negotiation to put an end to the social menace that has made Orlu zone desolate as people have abandoned their ancestral homes for fear of insecurity.

Chief Charles Ahize whose senatorial ambition is premised on recovering Orlu zone and handing it over to the people; maintained that he has the right connections , goodwill and wider reach to attract development to Orlu and turn it into an industrial- hub where our youths who roam the streets after graduation will be productively engaged, which would reduce the disturbing growing rate of insecurity in Orlu zone and Imo State by extension.

Speaking after the adoption and endorsement of Chief Charles Ahize as consensus candidate of UIPU for Orlu Senate, a respected community leader and strong PDP Chieftain, Chief Obinna Duruaku (Onwa, BBC), threw caution to the wind as he openly endorsed Chief Ahize as the best gift that God has given to Orlu people at a time like this; while calling on Nwangele leaders across party lines to cue behind the man of the moment.

Chief Duruaku recalled in nostalgia, how Charles Ahize had fought for the emancipation of ndigbo in Nigeria at personal cost and comfort as he had challenged both military and elected civilian governments in power at the time to give the Igbo nation a chance to thrive in the Nigerian political milieu.

In his own words as captured by the Publisher of 4thestatereporters.ng, Njoku Macdonald Obinna: “ Chief Charles Ahize (Akpuruka n’ Orlu) is a man I have known for over 34 years. He is not an everyday politician who plays gimmicks with their promises. He is a man of impeccable and strong character who keeps to his words. “

Pleading with the leadership and members of United Isu Progressives Union (UIPU) to look beyond individual and party interests, Chief Obinna Duruaku almost went on his knees to call for support to the man who has the will- power , strong character, goodwill and the right contacts to fix Orlu zone at a delicate and challenging time like this.
He maintained that; “ Chief Charles Ahize is the right man for the job. “

Judging from the background of the foregoing, Chief Obinna Duruaku (Onwa Chineke) also lent credence to the fact that Distinguished Chief Charles Ahize is a revolutionary idea whose time has come, urging people to pay less attention to political parties this time and vote for individuals that have been tested and trusted with good track records.
