IMO: REALITY MASS MOVEMENT INITIATIVE INAUGURATED IN OWERRI, AS MEMBERS ARE CHARGED TO PROMOTE GOOD GOVERNANCE AND UPLIFTMENT OF DEMOCRACY IN NIGERIA

The Imo political space was dotted last weekend; January 21, 2023, as a non – political and socio- cultural organisation, Reality Mass Movement Initiative, inaugurated her LGA officers and members of the Executive Council amid commendations.

Reality Mass Movement Initiative, a powerful apolitical grassroots – oriented based mass movement was birthed on the convictions of the urgent need to create awareness for the masses to protect their mandate and vote wisely during every electioneering season; and to promote good governance and upliftment of democracy in Nigeria.

The brainchild behind the vision is no less personality than a billionaire business mogul; respected community leader, silent achiever, and boardroom political strategist, High Chief Christognus Ugochukwu Okoro; popularly known by friends and associates with his distinguished chieftaincy title of Agbara Ahụrụ Gbuo-ọkụko.

Speaking during the inauguration at the luxurious Villa Garden Hotel, Owerri, being venue of the watershed event, the convener and president of Reality Mass Movement Initiative, High Chief Christognus Okoro , stated emphatically that the group is a non -political socio – cultural organisation, poised towards promoting good governance and upliftment of democracy while advocating for equity in the political office sharing in Imo since Owerri zone is the most marginalized in the power equation of the state.

Chief Okoro maintained in strong terms that, the group which has an estimated 10800 voter’s capacity across the communities in Imo East Senatorial District, would use her voting strength to speak with one voice against those who have neglected the zone while partnering with elected public office holders that are adjudged to have done creditably well in the last four years, or so.

The soft -speaking business maverick and socialite, Agbara Igbo – Christognus Okoro, while inaugurating the local government liason officers and facilitators, however, charged them to use their wealth of grassroots experience and reach to coordinate and mobilize members for the organisation which shall strengthen the growing rate of the group thereby, making it a singular most formidable non- political socio- cultural organisation in Imo State.

Speaking immediately after the inauguration, Director of Media & Publicity, Reality Mass Movement Initiative, Chief Jude Opara (Shapume) , highlighted the mission -statement of the organisation which among other things included:
• Election observation and sensitization.

• Create awareness for the masses to protect their mandate and voting rights.

• To monitor every election through participation . To build a powerful partnership for good governance/ leadership and to reduce incessant rigging practice by voting rightly in any election.

• To mobilize and orientate the masses the importance of good governance in Nigeria, which is borne out of our desire to inculcate and imbibe good leadership to the grassroots.

Appealing to the newly inaugurated LGA officers of Reality Mass Movement Initiative; Director of Operations and anchor man of the event, Hon. Emma Mezie, emphasized on the need to maintain impeccable intergrity and follow the footsteps of the Convener, High Chief Christognus Ugochukwu Okoro, who has remained steadfast in his leadership approach over the years.

In a similar vein , Chief Jude Opara (Shapume); Director, Media & Publicity of the organisation, charged the LGA officers on the need to have integrity which matters so much to the group. During his pres release a copy which was sent to the Publisher of 4th Estate Reporters, Njoku Macdonald Obinna, the Ikeduru Lord Mayor and Imo socialite, Jude Opara, stated thus:
“ Your character must be impeccable without been questionable. Above all, we must foster love among ourselves that is why we flow with such slogan as unity and togetherness.

High point of the event was the arrival and formal introduction of two prominent Imo leaders; High Chief Victor Nwaneri and Chief Uche Anosike as grand patrons of Reality Mass Movement Initiative. The event ended with some expectations about the strategic roles the organisation would play in promoting public office holders and also holding them accountable to the people as a communiqùe will be issued to that effect.
